On 20
February, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit
Manasyan conducted a working visit to the Shirak Province.
A
meeting was held with the Governor of Shirak Province Mr. David Arushanyan.
Problems related to the protection of human rights in the province were
discussed, including socio-economic challenges, as well as the importance of
ensuring systemic solutions. Ms. Anahit Manasyan visited Gyumri High School No.
1. Accompanied by the Director of School, Ms. Naira Tadevosyan and the
representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, Ms. Anahit Manasyan
toured the school premises. Then, a meeting was held with students. The
structure, implementation and protection mechanisms of international human
rights law were discussed as well as the role and areas of activity of the
Human Rights Defender's Office.
