The Human Rights Defender of
the Republic of Armenia launches an awareness-raising campaign for the
promotion of inclusive education.
For launching the campaign,
the Human Rights Defender Arman
Tatoyan, Anahit Bakhsyan, specialist in the field of inclusive education, as
well as Gohar Navasardyan, Armenian representative at Beauty Contest for women
with disability, met with pupils of Basic School No.20 after John Kirakosyan.
The school has been providing
inclusive education since 2007.
“We should promote inclusive
education in our country, discover each pupil’s potential and promote their
self-expression. We also have to treat each child respectfully and teach them independent
living skills”, said Arman Tatoyan during the opening remarks.
He discussed with the
children issues related to their rights.
Anahit Bakhshyan highlighted
that all the educational institutions should be adapted and the education should be
accessible for all children.
Gohar Navasardyan, who
recently received an award in international competition, encouraged the
children to have the willpower to overcome all problems in their lives.
“For a long time I have
received homeschooling, and I am very happy to see that children have an opportunity
to receive education in school, to communicate with each other”, said Gohar
Navasardyan.
On social media the campaign
is accompanied with #ChangetheWorld call as a hashtag.
