Human rights and
democracy are interrelated with security.
The more human rights are protected and the more established
democracy is, the stronger the security; conversely, human rights violations
and the disruption of democracy endanger security. This basic principle also
applies to the border demarcation process.
Violations of human rights in the Syunik region of Republic of
Armenia (RA), as well as ongoing threats to the rights related to the border
demarcation process must be eliminated and a security zone must be created.
This is the part of the Ombudsman's press conference, which
refers to the basic principles of human rights in the border demarcation
process in international law, as well as the human rights issues we have
registered in Syunik region.
The special report of the RA Human Rights Defender on this issue
is summarized in order to present it to international organizations.
