During
the interview with Mr. Zhirayr Voskanyan, the Defender addressed the
problematic nature of the processes implemented against ethnic Armenians
arbitrarily detained in Azerbaijan from a human rights perspective and the
importance of their immediate release.
In
this context, Ms. Anahit Manasyan spoke about the mandate and tools of her
authority, the responses of international organizations and actors with a
mandate to protect human rights.
Among
other things, Ms. Anahit Manasyan presented the state of women's rights
protection in our country, addressed cases of gender-based targeting of women,
emphasized the importance of appointing women to leadership positions in law
enforcement from the perspective of overcoming stereotypes and the activities
of the Public Council on Women's Rights adjunct to the Human Rights Defender of
the Republic of Armenia.
The
Defender also spoke about existing problems and stereotypes from the
perspective of men's rights.
Issues
related to the protection of human rights in "closed institutions"
were also touched upon, and in this context the issues of protecting women's
rights.
