The
Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Anahit Manasyan, was a guest on FreeNews TV
channel’s program “Free Conversation with Artur Kirakosyan.”
During
the discussion, the following topics were addressed:

Recent legal proceedings involving clergy members,
• Public
misconceptions about the “Whistle blowing” institution, and the inadmissibility
of targeting individuals in this context,
• The
case of a lawyer’s detention, in the context of ensuring legal guarantees and
maintaining professional ethics,
• The
detention of a relative of a soldier whose whereabouts are unknown, from the
perspective of proportionality and the particular sensitivity of the case,
• The
inadmissibility of violations of personal data protection and the right to
privacy,
•
Misunderstandings in public perception regarding the institution: Human Rights
Defender versus Human Rights Commissioner.
It
should be noted that at the time of filming the interview, the events in Gyumri
had not yet developed, and due to the lack of information, no details on those
incidents were presented.
