The Project was implemented with the support of the Fund for Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
The Project aims to provide assistance to the National Preventive Mechanism of Armenia in fulfilling its commitments in accordance with the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, to increase the level of implementation of the principles of the Convention, as well as to raise the level of awareness on the role and mandate of the National Preventive Mechanism.
Within the framework of the Project, experience exchange visits and training on the methodology of monitoring in places of deprivation of liberty and preparing reports were organized for the representatives and experts of the National Preventive Mechanism, as well as a round table discussion on the implementation of the recommendations of the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture was organized.
Trainings and workshops were organized for staff, including medical personnel of the places of deprivation of liberty, and fact sheets on their rights, as well as on the role and activities of the National Preventive Mechanism were developed and distributed among persons deprived of their liberty.
