Launched in 2017
The Project was implemented with the support of the UNHCR Office in Yerevan.
The Project aims to enhance the capabilities of the Office of the Human Rights Defender in the field of protection of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers, as well as to carry out an analysis of the situation of protection of the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in the Republic of Armenia. For this purpose, training for the representatives of the Defender’s Office and experience exchange visits were carried out.
One of the key objectives of the Project is to raise the level of awareness among refugees on their right to appeal to the Defender, as well as the rights and obligations arising from their status. For this purpose, leaflets containing the abovementioned information were printed in seven languages and distributed among the refugees.
Within the framework of the Project, information banners were prepared and placed at the "Zvartnots" International Airport and at the border checkpoints of the Republic of Armenia.
At the end of the Project, an ad hoc report of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia on the protection of the rights of refugees in Armenia was published.
