The
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan was
hosted at the studio of Public Radio’s “Without Footnotes” program․
In
the conversation with Mr. Levon Sardaryan, among other things, the Defender
referred to:
✅ concerns
about discriminatory approaches towards persons with disabilities, the
inadmissibility of targeting the mentioned persons, the prevalence of such
cases in the professional community,
✅ the
importance of involving persons with disabilities in labour relations,
including in the judicial system, the steps taken by the Human Rights Defender
in this regard,
✅ the
existing distorted perceptions regarding child rights protection mechanisms,
the need to improve the knowledge and skills of professionals working with
children,
✅ concerns
in the field of guaranteeing religious freedoms, the autonomy of religious
organizations, restrictions on religious organizations,
✅ distorted perceptions
related to religious freedoms,
✅ the
need for proper implementation of control mechanisms for the observance of
rules of conduct and ethics in professional communities and the existing
problems in this regard,
✅ the
need for reforms in human rights education,
✅ the
health condition of the detained person Mr. Stepan Samvelyan, the intervention
of the Human Rights Defender in transferring him to a medical institution.
