In an
interview with Factor TV, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia,
Ms. Anahit Manasyan, considered it unacceptable to disseminate abusive and
insulting speech by all public figures, including high-ranking officials.
At
the same time, the Defender spoke about the importance of distinguishing
between hate speech and speech that apparently violates ethical norms and
contains insults.
In
this context, Ms. Anahit Manasyan considered it unacceptable to widely
disseminate hate speech on the basis of ethnic origin, religious beliefs (or
their absence) and other grounds, which are the main slogans of rallies
organized by specific political forces and political movements.
The
Defender also spoke about the fact that arbitrary justice should be excluded in
Armenia and this should be excluded not only in fact, but also in such a format
that an impartial observer does not get the impression of the existence of
arbitrary justice.
Reference
was also made to the problematic situations when, police officers who use
violence are not subjected to criminal prosecution.
During
the interview, the Defender also spoke about the arrests of recent days. A more

scope of the Human Rights Defender’s mandate.
