The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms.
Anahit Manasyan, was a guest at the studio of 24news’ “Interview” program.
The state authority cannot use state resources to
interfere with the autonomy of a religious organization, and any interference
with rights must be carried out exclusively in accordance with established
standards. A religious organization, in turn, cannot use its resources to
delegitimize state authority, seize state authority or alter state power.
▪️The practice of using detention in Armenia must change.
▪️There have been numerous instances of conduct by
various actors in relation to the Human Rights Defender’s Office, for which
criminal liability is provided by the legislation.
▪️Cases of forcing individuals to participate in
assemblies are problematic, while voluntary participation in assemblies must
not result in negative consequences for individuals.
▪️Issues related to the rights of Armenians deprived of
their liberty in Azerbaijan are addressed by the Human Rights Defender in her
communications with all international partners.
These and a number of other issues were referred by the
Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan during her conversation with Ms.
Hermine Mikayelyan.
