On the basis of the information
published by the mass media, the representatives of the Department for the
Prevention of Torture and Ill-treatment of the RA Human Rights Defender's
Office, including the doctor-specialist, based on the assignment of the
Defender, on the 10th of February, 2017, made an unannounced visit to the RA
Ministry of Justice "Prison Hospital" Penitentiary Institution, meet
Arthur Sargsyan, who is keeping there and is currently on hunger strike.
His detention conditions , as
well as the situation on rights ensuring and the organization of medical care
have been studied. The representatives of the Defender's staff also had a private
interview with the detainee A.Sargsyan.
In the course of the private
interviews, A. Sargsian stated that he announced hunger strike in regard with the
court groundless decision on choosing detention
as a restraint measure.
The issue of the health condition
of Artur Sargsyan, keeping at the "Prison Hospital" Penitentiary
Institution, continues to be under the preliminary attention of the Defender.
