On March 24, the Office
of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia received a complaint that a number of
protesters on Mashtots Avenue were apprehended to the Central Police Unit.
The representatives of
the Rapid Response Unit at the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia
immediately visited the apprehended persons and held private interviews with
them. After meeting with the Police officers, the apprehended persons had the
opportunity to meet with their advocate.
The Defender’s representatives
also visited the "Surb Grigor Lusavorich" medical center, where
Ruzanna Yghukyan was taken.
Based on the information
received during the visits, the relevant authorities were required to provide
necessary explanations.
