The
Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan is on a two-day official visit to the
Republic of Artsakh.
On
May 13, the delegation headed by Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan
met with President of the Artsakh Republic Bako Sahakyan and the Chairman of
Artsakh National Assembly Ashot Ghulyan, on the occasion of the 25th
anniversary of the Artsakh conflict ceasefire agreement. The Human Rights
Defender of Artsakh also participated in the meetings.
During
the meetings, human rights protection issues were discussed, as well as the
fruitful cooperation between the Human Rights Defender’s institutions of
Armenia and Artsakh was valued.
Arman
Tatoyan emphasized and praised the cooperation with the Parliament of Artsakh
and expressed his readiness to cooperate in the field of human rights
protection.
Within
the framework of the official visit, the delegations headed by the Human Rights
Defenders of Armenia and Artsakh also visited Artsakh State University and met
the rector Armen Sargsyan, as well as the students and the teaching staff.
Arman
Tatoyan presented the mandate of the Human Rights Defender, the key directions
and principles of work.
During
the meeting issues related to the protection of the rights of our compatriots
in Artsakh, and cooperation in this area, were discussed.
“Human Rights shall be protected regardless of the political status
of the territory. There are people, namely women, children, persons with
disabilities living in Artsakh, who should be protected and whose rights should
be guaranteed regardless of the status of the territory. Artsakh should become
an integral part of the civilized democratic world․ We should relentlessly work
for achieving this purpose.”, said Arman Tatoyan in his speech.
Arman
Tatoyan highly valued the fruitful cooperation between the Human Rights
Defender’s Institutions of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh.
