On
January 26, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit
Manasyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the
Eastern Republic of Uruguay, H.E. Ms. Silvana Lesca Barolin.
Welcoming
the Ambassador, Ms. Anahit Manasyan presented the areas of activity of the
Human Rights Defender, highlighting the protection of the rights of women,
children, national minorities, persons with disabilities, freedom of assembly,
civil and socio-economic rights, the protection of human rights in the armed
forces and in the framework of criminal proceedings, as well as activities to
combat hate speech, intolerance, discrimination and a number of other fields.
The
Defender emphasized her determination to combat intolerance, discrimination,
and hate speech within the scope of her mandate.
During
the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to the
protection of human rights and of mutual interest.
The
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Eastern Republic of
Uruguay, H.E. Ms. Silvana Lesca Barolin expressed her gratitude to the Defender
for the warm reception and the productive discussion.
