On
January 22, 2026, within the framework of the 2025 winter conscription, the
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan, together
with representatives of Human Rights Defender’s Office, conducted a visit to
the N training military unit under the Ministry of Defense.
The
purpose of the visit was to examine issues related to the involvement of
conscripts in military service, their initial training, the treatment accorded
to them, the conditions of service, and, in general, the state of their rights.
During
the visit, accompanied by the command staff, a site visit to the military
unit’s premises was carried out, during which the social and living conditions
of the servicemen and the specific features of the organization of service,
were examined.
The
Defender held conversations with newly enlisted servicemen, who presented their
service routine following their involvement in military service, the conditions
of service, their interactions with the command staff and their fellow
servicemen, as well as other details related to the process of integration into
military service.
Issues
related to the rights of servicemen remain under the constant attention of the
Human Rights Defender and are raised and addressed through various formats.
At
the same time, the Human Rights Defender positively assesses the changes that
have resulted in sector-specific positive developments and in improved service
conditions in the field of human rights protection within the armed forces.
