The Human Rights Defender of Armenia Ms. Anahit Manasyan
is participating in the Leadership Forum 2025 of the European Network of
National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) taking place in Brussels, Belgium
on September 24-26.
Human Rights Defenders and representatives of Human
Rights Institutions from around 30 countries participated in the event. The
agenda of the discussions included a number of issues related to human rights
and the rule of law, such as the accreditation process of national human rights institutions,
improvement of human rights protection mechanisms at the national level,
combating threats to national human rights institutions, etc.
During the event, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit
Manasyan moderated the session on crisis preparedness and resilience building
for national human rights institutions.
The participants referred to issues related to the
strengthening and resilience of national human rights institutions, increasing
the effectiveness of emergency response, and shared their experiences.
Ms. Anahit Manasyan presented the experience of the Human
Rights Defender’s Office of Armenia in responding to emergency situations, the
problems related to the perception of human rights and relevant issues in the
sphere, the challenges faced by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, which are
common to a number of other institutions, and the mechanisms for overcoming
them.
A range of human rights issues were discussed within the
framework of the Leadership Forum of the European Network of National Human
Rights Institutions. Special attention was paid to the introduction of
mechanisms to ensure the uninterrupted and effective work of national
institutions, including in crisis situations.
