On
August 8, Ms. Anahit Manasyan visited the enlarged community of Jermuk, as well
as the communities of Kechut and Gndevaz.
Meetings
were held with the residents. Rights-related problems were registered on site.
Residents
of the above-mentioned communities presented issues related to employment,
property rights, access to drinking and irrigation water, security, the rights
of servicemen, as well as other issues aimed at improving residents’
socio-economic conditions. Residents raised problems related to the use of
pastures, hayfields and arable land. In addition, they noted that it has become
difficult to engage in agriculture and to provide their families with vital
resources. Along with raising the problems, residents also presented their own
vision for solving them.
Ms.
Anahit Manasyan assured that the problems raised within the framework of the
discussion will be examined by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, and measures
will be taken in cooperation with the competent state bodies to find solutions.
Within
the framework of the visit, Ms. Anahit Manasyan also toured the Kechut
preschool.
The
regional visits of the Human Rights Defender to get acquainted with human
rights problems in the republic are ongoing.
