On
the instructions of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, the
representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office conducted a rapid
response visit to the Yerevan Garrison Hospital under the Ministry of Defense
of the Republic of Armenia.
Another
visit was due to an alarm call from the parents of the serviceman, who
expressed concern about the health issues and the treatment process of their
son, subsequent to his recent conscription into the armed
forces.
The
Human Rights Defender's representatives held meetings with the hospital's
medical staff to discuss issues related to the serviceman's examination,
treatment, and medical expertise. Within the framework of the visit, a private
interview was conducted with the serviceman, who presented the issues of
concern to him.
We
consider it necessary to note that the Human Rights Defender’s Office has an
ongoing proceeding on the mentioned issue, within the framework of which,
pursuant to official correspondence from the Defender and in coordination with
the Ministry of Defense, the serviceman has been transferred to the hospital
and is currently under medical supervision and observation.
The
issue of proper medical care for servicemen remains a matter of ongoing and
close attention by the Human Rights Defender.
