On July 14, the delegation led by the Public Defender of
Rights of the Slovak Republic, JUDr. Róbert Dobrovodský who is in Armenia on a
working visit, paid a familiarization visit to the Human Rights Defender’s
Office of the Republic of Armenia.
Ms. Nina Pirumyan, the Secretary General of the Human
Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, presented the stages of
establishment and development of the institution.
Then, the delegation was presented with the functions of
the Human Rights Defender as the National Preventive Mechanism.
The presentation was delivered by Ms. Laura Gasparyan,
Coordinator of the National Preventive Mechanism - Head of Department for
Prevention of Torture and Ill-Treatment, who specifically addressed the
functions of the mechanism, practical tools and cooperation formats.
