Advisor
to the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anzhelika
Movsesova, participated in a training entitled “Protection օf Human Rights
Defenders: The Role օf NHRIs” within the frames of the National Human Rights
Institutions (NHRI) Academy held in Warsaw on June 9-13.
The
event was organized jointly by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and
Human Rights (ODIHR) and the European Network of National Human Rights
Institutions (ENNHRI).
The
participants of the course were welcomed by Marcin Wiącek, Commissioner for
Human Rights of Poland, Maria Telalian, Director of the ODIHR, as well as
Andrew Gardner, Acting Head of the ODIHR Human Rights Department.
By
participating in the training, representatives of national institutions from
different countries, including Greece, France, Moldova, Slovakia, Georgia,
Albania, Turkey, Scotland, Ireland, the Czech Republic and other states —had
the opportunity to exchange best practices, discuss challenges of different
related spheres, and develop effective models for applying knowledge and
skills.
The
purpose of the training was to promote cooperation among national human rights
institutions and to strengthen their ties with the OSCE/ODIHR and the European
Network of National Human Rights Institutions.
The
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit Manasyan,
emphasizes the active participation of the representatives of the Office in
capacity-building initiatives, emphasizing the important role of international
cooperation, professional progress, and experience exchange in improving the
quality of the activities of the defense institution.
