On
March 26, the Secretary General of the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the
Republic of Armenia, Ms. Nina Pirumyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary
and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Fabio Vaz Pitaluga.
Ms.
Nina Pirumyan presented to the Ambassador the scope of the Human Rights
Defender's mandate, directions of work, which, among others, include the rights
of women, children, national minorities, persons with disabilities, hate
speech, an atmosphere of intolerance, the fight against discrimination and
other areas.
The
Secretary General of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, Ms. Nina Pirumyan also
touched upon the challenges in the field of ensuring equality and
anti-discrimination, emphasizing the unacceptable levels of hate speech,
discrimination, and an atmosphere of intolerance in our country and the
importance of the work carried out within the framework of the fight against
it.
Ambassador
Fabio Vaz Pitaluga expressed gratitude for the reception and highlighted the
role of the Human Rights Defender's Office in implementing its mission of human
rights protection.
