On
March 19, the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of Armenia
participated in a Working Meeting on the Gender Equality Seal for Public
Institutions.
The
meeting was held within the framework of the Gender Equality Seal (GES)
implementation process, which was officially launched at the Human Rights Defender’s
Office on April 9, 2024.
The
Secretary General of the Human Rights Defender’s Office of the Republic of
Armenia, Ms. Nina Pirumyan, delivered a welcome speech, expressing gratitude to
the UNDP partners for their support in the implementation of the GES and their
willingness to further consolidate efforts. The Secretary General emphasized
that the GES process will ultimately contribute to the improvement of
gender-sensitive practices within the Defenders's institution, thus providing
an opportunity to share this positive experience with other public institutions
as well as national human rights institutions in other countries.
Anna
Nersesyants, Project Analyst of the UNDP "Women in Politics, Public
Administration and Civil Society" Project, also delivered a welcoming
speech.
During
the meeting, the joint work carried out within the framework of the process of
implementation of the GES was summarized, the scope of the GES in the context
of public institutions and the strategic directions of the GES were discussed,
and the action plan to be implemented in the near future was outlined.
The
working meeting was organized within the framework of the UNDP "Women in
Politics, Public Administration and Civil Society" Project, which is
funded by the Good Governance Fund.
