On
March 5, following the instructions of the Human Rights Defender of the
Republic of Armenia Ms. Anahit Manasyan, representatives of the Human Rights
Defender’s Office conducted a visit to the Yerevan Garrison Military Hospital
under the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
The
purpose of the regular visit was to assess on-site the situation of the rights
of military serviceman after being transferred to the hospital, regarding which
an alarm was also received.
During
the visit, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office met with
the management of the Yerevan Garrison Military Hospital, the doctor treating
the serviceman, held a private interviews with him, during which they clarified
the opportunities for exercising his rights. It was emphasized that the
Defender is always consistent and responsive to the problems raised by
servicemen and their parents. Issues related to the serviceman's treatment and
examination were discussed with the medical staff.
The
health and proper medical care of servicemen are under the direct attention of
the Human Rights Defender. Visits to military hospitals will continue on a
regular basis.
