On
February 28, the law students, selected through a competitive process from
various universities across Armenia, as part of the Human Rights Winter School,
visited Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia and met with Prosecutor
General Ms. Anna Vardapetyan.
In a
Q&A session, the Prosecutor General Ms. Vardapetyan discussed the mandate
of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia, the continuous
professional development of prosecutors, and the legal requirements for
prosecutor candidates, which, among other things, relate to professionalism,
personal qualities, and integrity.
Ms.
Anna Vardapetyan also outlined the key priorities of the Prosecutor's Office of
the Republic of Armenia, including Human rights protection, anti-corruption
efforts, confiscation of illegally acquired property, protecting state and
community interests.
The
students also participated in an educational tour, where they were introduced
to the history of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Armenia in the
Museum.
It
should be noted that the Winter School program includes visits to various state
institutions, meetings with high-ranking officials, and discussions with
leading experts in the field.
The
Human Rights Winter School was organized at the initiative of the Human Rights
Defender of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) Armenia Office.
The
Winter School is implemented within the framework of the program
"Promotion of Human Rights Protection and Strengthening of National
Institutions" funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA.
