On
February 25, the students of the Human Rights Winter School visited the
National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. The first meeting was held with
the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
Welcoming
the students, the head of the legislative body presented his professional
journey and touched upon the work of the Parliament.
In a
Q&A session, students had the opportunity to raise their questions and
discuss the presented topics.
The
law students, selected through a competitive process from various universities
across Armenia, had their second meeting with Artur Hovhannisyan, Member of
Parliament and Member of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights
and Public Affairs.
The
students also participated in an educational tour, where they were introduced
to the history of the Parliament in the Museum.
It
should be noted that the Winter School program includes visits to various state
institutions, meetings with high-ranking officials, and discussions with
leading experts in the field.
The
Human Rights Winter School was organized at the initiative of the Human Rights
Defender of the Republic of Armenia in cooperation with United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) Armenia Office.
The
Winter School is implemented within the framework of the program
"Promotion of Human Rights Protection and Strengthening of National
Institutions" funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP, UNICEF and UNFPA.
