Monitoring of applications addressed to the Human Rights
Defender, as well as publications on social networks and mass media, indicates
that in recent days, cases of targeting individuals for dissent regarding the
increase in public transportation fares have become widespread in the public.
This atmosphere of intolerance has negative consequences
for the human rights protection system.
The Human Rights Defender urges the exclusion of hate
speech, and calls for violence, insults, intolerance, and any form of degrading
treatment from the public discourse, as well as taking action to counter such
speech and behavior.
