On
December 26, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan, paid a working
visit to Shirak province.
At
the "Pando" Community Development NGO in Marmashen, Anahit Manasyan
met with young people and community activists, including forcibly displaced
people from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The
discussion focused on human rights-related issues, and the key directions and
powers of Defender were presented. The meeting was also attended by Zaven
Manukyan, the head of the Akhuryan community.
In
her speech, Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance of fostering equality and
a tolerant environment: “For me, the protection of every individual’s rights is
extremely important. In this context, I highly value hearing about existing
issues directly from you. Within the scope of my authority, I am ready to
support you in any matter.”
The
meeting was held in a Q&A format, where participants raised issues related
to youth employment, public transportation accessibility, and the rights of
children, national minorities, persons with disabilities and women, as well as
access to educational institutions. Forcibly displaced people also voiced
several concerns.
There
was also a discussion on the activities of Public Council on Children's Rights
adjunct to the Human Rights Defender.
In
conclusion, Anahit Manasyan thanked the participants for the discussion and
stressed that solving many issues is only possible through joint efforts.
