On
November 26, Ms. Manasyan met with the residents of community within the
framework of a working visit to Gegharkunik province.
Approximately
50 people participated in the meeting, including forcibly displaced persons.
They presented a number of issues regarding their rights, which are related to
the protection of the rights of servicemen and the members of their families,
access to public transportation and the problems it creates from a human rights
perspective, access to education, social support provided to employees of
preschools, colleges, music schools, including the lack of a social assistance
packages, and youth employment. Forcibly displaced persons mainly raised issues
related to the restoration of their documents and assistance programs.
Residents
also expressed their concern regarding the closure of the Court of General
Jurisdiction of Martuni city of Gegharkunik province, as a result of which
additional difficulties have been created for the residents of the community;
residents have to travel to other communities to access the court.
Ms.
Manasyan assured that the issues raised during the discussion will be analysed
at the Defender’s Office, and will be summarized and addressed to the competent
state bodies.
The
visits of the Human Rights Defender to the provinces, which are implemented to
get acquainted with the problems related to human rights in the Republic on
site, are continuous.
