On
November 22, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan received the
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
Her Excellency Ms. Marieke Monroy-Winter.
Welcoming
the guest, the Defender highly valued the effective cooperation established
with the Embassy, and the jointly implemented programs aimed at protecting
human rights.
Ms.
Manasyan represented the main directions of her activities and the challenges
facing the protection of human rights in our country.
During
the discussion, the Human Rights Defender referred to the protection of the
rights of national minorities, persons with disabilities, the work carried out
within the framework of the fight against hate speech, intolerance,
discrimination, and the fostering of equality, as well as the protection of the
rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Ms.
Manasyan mentioned that these spheres are among her priorities, and all
implemented programs are aimed at destroying existing stereotypes, to form a
stronger system of human rights protection.
During
the discussion the interlocuters also discussed the activities carried out to
prevent all forms of torture and ill-treatment, domestic violence, protection
of the rights of the child, and protection from all forms of violence. In this
regard, Ms. Manasyan also emphasized the importance of police reforms.
In
her turn, Her Excellency Ms. Monroy-Winter expressed her gratitude for the
reception and emphasized the role of the Defender in the implementation of the
mission to protect human rights.
