of the Human Rights Defender visited military units in Lori Province and the
Vanadzor division of the Military Police.
During
the visits, issues related to medical care, discipline, morale and
psychological state of servicemen, the quality of food, and other circumstances
were examined.
The Defender's
representatives held a private conversation with draftees, non-commissioned
officers and officers, and various issues related to the rights of servicemen
and the members of their family were discussed, including issues related to
social security, raising the educational level, accreditation, housing
security, health care, issues related to social and living conditions,
etc. A separate meeting was held with
the women's council of the military unit, where various issues of concern to
female servicemen were discussed, and opinions were exchanged about the
mechanisms for solving them.
During
the visits, representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia and the Armed
Forces demonstrated a high level of cooperation.
The
Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan reiterates that issues related to the protection
of the rights of servicemen and the members of their family are under her daily
attention.
The
problems registered in the sphere are regularly summarized in the Defender's
Office and proposals for solving the problems are presented to the competent
departments.
The
results of the mentioned visits are summarized in the Defender’s Office, and
corresponding letters will be addressed to the Ministry of Defense.
