Today a discussion procedure has
been initiated in the Staff of the Human Rights Defender immediately after the
publication of information about a contract serviceman with a fatal gunshot
wound.
The letters were sent to the competent state authorities in order to obtain
clarification in connection with the incident.
The Defender emphasizes that the presence of such cases in the Armed Forces is
unacceptable and very worrying.
In order to protect the Right to Life in the Armed Forces, the state is obliged
to take necessary and sufficient steps aimed at protecting the Right to Life of
military servicemen, and in case of the death of military servicemen, conduct
an effective investigation to clarify the circumstances that led to them.
The Human Rights Defender once again emphasizes that to solve the problem, it
is necessary to apply a systemic approach in that regard, highlighting the need
to develop and implement a unified concept (program, sequence of steps, etc.)
to prevent death and self-injury in the Army.
Any issue related to human rights in the Armed Forces is under the direct
attention of the Human Rights Defender.
