The
Head of the Department of Civil, Socio-Economic and Cultural Rights Protection
– Vladimir Hovhannisyan, participated in the second session of the Human Rights
Commission of the Commonwealth of Independent States on June 27.
Representative
of the Russian Federation in the Human Rights Commission of the CIS, RF Human
Rights Commissioner – Tatyana Maskalkova chaired the session.
Commission
members from Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and
Uzbekistan, commission secretariat and representatives of the executive
committee of the CIS, and also RF Regional Human Hights commissioners
participated in the session.
The
Commission members discussed more than 10 questions included in the agenda of
the session.
Among
the most important tasks facing the sector, ensuring respect for the rights of
foreign citizens was highlighted. Within the framework of the session, the
participants were offered to analyse the Migration Legislation and submit
suggestions for its improvement. Session participants have shared with the
positive experience of countries in the field of their legal regulation of
migrants' rights.
A
decision was made at the session on the creation of four working groups, a
unified procedure for their work has been approved.
Commission
members discussed issues related to the preparation of the Annual Report of the
activities of the Human Rights Commission of the CIS and issues related to the
implementation of the work plan of the Commission on Human Rights of the
Commonwealth of Independent States for 2024-2025.
The
next session of Human Rights Commission of the CIS will take place on October
9, 2024 in Moscow.
