On June 18, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan
and the representatives of the Defender’s Office made an unannounced monitoring
visit to the "Nork" round-the-clock care center of the Ministry of
Labor and Social Affairs.
The aim was to get acquainted to the daily life of the
beneficiaries of the institution, and to register the problems related to the
realization of their rights.
Ms. Manasyan, accompanied by the Director of the center
Mr. Artur Melkonyan, toured the area, got acquainted with the living and
sanitary conditions of the beneficiaries, the food provided to them, the
organization of medical assistance, and etc.
Private interviews were held with the persons receiving
care at the facility, including those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh,
and currently residing in the care center. The Defender also got acquainted
with the working conditions of the SNCO.
Ms. Manasyan emphasized that the protection of the rights
of beneficiaries of care centers is one of the important directions of her
activities. The problems are under her direct attention.
The results of the visit will be summarized and the
recorded problems will be addressed to the competent authorities. The
unannounced monitoring visits are continuous.
