Today,
the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan had a phone conversation with Naira
Sahakyan, the wife of Yesai Karamyan, who was injured in the hand and other
parts of the body during the protest on June 12 in Yerevan. Considering the
ethical side of the issue, the content of the telephone conversation is confidential.
All
issues related to the right to freedom of assembly and injured persons are
under the direct attention of the Human Rights Defender. The staff of the
Defender regularly receives information about the health condition of injured
persons, including Yesai Karamyan.
The
question of the legality of the use of special measures (sound grenades) by the
police is being examined by the staff of the Defender within the framework of
the discussion procedure initiated by the Defender. Based on the results of the
study, the Human Rights Defender will present her position on the issue.
