On May 29, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan visited
the "Luse" Rehabilitation Center Foundation, which provides social
rehabilitation services to children with disabilities.
The Defender toured the center with the director of the
rehabilitation center, Gohar Galstyan, and got acquainted with the staff,
building conditions, services provided, current works and future plans.
Anahit Manasyan also spoke with children with
disabilities and their parents, and emphasized the importance of changing
stereotypes in society in order to provide an inclusive and harmonious
environment.
"Participation and effective social inclusion of
everyone in public life on an equal basis is extremely important. From this
viewpoint, it is very important that the state takes effective measures to
guarantee the unimpeded realization of the right of people with disabilities to
live independently and to be included in the community. In our public
perception, we should stop considering the mentioned problems as
secondary," stated the Defender.
Anahit Manasyan also handed over symbolic gifts and games
for children to "Luse Rehabilitation Center".
The Defender highly appreciated the work being done,
expressing her willingness to support the protection of the rights of children
with disabilities within the scope of her authority.
