On May 20, 2024, the representatives of the Human Rights
Defender and UNHCR Armenia conducted a joint monitoring visit to the Reception
Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
The visit aimed to evaluate compliance with international
and national standards, focusing on living conditions, sanitation, and overall
service provision. During the visit, discussions were held with Director and
staff members of the Reception Center to understand their challenges and
concerns.
During the visit it was highlighted and discussed that
improvements are needed in certain areas to ensure services meet established
standards.
"We appreciate the opportunity to engage with the
Director and staff members of the Reception Center and discuss ways to enhance
shelter services," said HRDO and UNHCR staff, “Our joint efforts aim to
address challenges and improve the overall quality of care provided to refugees
and asylum seekers."
The Human Rights Defender’s Office and UNHCR Armenia have
reached an agreement to cooperate with the interested parties in order to solve
the mentioned problems and enhance service delivery.
