The
rights of national minorities must be completely protected and promoted in
Armenia. On May 19, a number of students, led by Human Rights Defender Anahit
Manasyan, visited the Yezidi spiritual center of Aknalich, Armavir Region.
The
visit was also attended by Rustam Bakoyan, a deputy of the RA National
Assembly, representative of the Yezidi community of Armenia in the parliament,
representatives of the Yezidi community and the Human Rights Defender.
During
the tour of the spiritual center, Rustam Bakoyan presented the students with
the history of the Yezidi people and the construction of the temple.
Anahit
Manasyan, welcoming the attendees, emphasized the importance of solving the
problems related to the protection and promotion of the rights of national
minorities with joint efforts.
"As
the Human Rights Defender, one of the important directions of my work is the
protection and promotion of the rights of national minorities in Armenia. Their
rights should be fully protected and promoted in Armenia. "Belonging to a
national minority as a basis for discrimination should be completely excluded
from our society," stated the Defender.
The
students also had the opportunity to ask questions to the Defender,
particularly regarding the protection and promotion of the rights of national
minorities in Armenia.
Anahit
Manasyan, emphasizing the organization of such educational meetings, assured
that the latter will have a continuous nature.
