As a result of the monitoring of the media and social
platforms, information was received that during the protests that took place in
Yerevan on May 13, the professional activities of mass media representatives
were apparently hindered.
On the instructions of the Human Rights Defender Anahit
Manasyan, contact was established with the journalist of the 24News.am website
Mary Manukyan in order to get information about the incident.
Clarifications will be requested from the competent
authorities in connection with the recorded incidents. The issue is in the
focus of the Human Rights Defender.
The Defender emphasizes that the professionally protected
and effective work of journalists and media is of great public importance.
Incidents of apparent violence targeting journalists
while carrying out their professional activities or due to it are inadmissible,
and the competent authorities should make the subject of proper discussion any case
that may indicate obstruction of the journalist's professional activities.
