Philanthropy and never striving to become a hero lead to
proper activities in the direction of human rights protection: on April 29, the
Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan visited the secondary school of Zangakatun
community of Ararat Region.
The meeting and conversation with the schoolchildren was
held at the initiative of the Defender, within the framework of the
"Generation" program of the "Teach For Armenia" educational
foundation. The students of the institution, the teaching staff, the
representatives of the regional administration and Defender's Office were
present.
In her speech, Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance
of such meetings, the importance of the ideas underlying human rights:
tolerance, guaranteeing the human being as the highest value.
During the conversation, the students talked about
various issues that interested them.
"The human rights protection system is based on
clear values, and we can root these values in our society only through
education. In that sense, each of us should demonstrate model behavior. It is
not necessary to form a hero's image by talking about seemingly big problems.
The real image of the system of guaranteeing human rights is expressed in the
case of overcoming all problems related to rights with unified standards and
the availability of real tools for guaranteeing the rights of all, including
vulnerable groups. Philanthropy and never striving to be a hero lead to proper
activity in the direction of human rights protection," the Defender
stated.
In this context, Anahit Manasyan emphasized that the most
important result of education should be the rooting of tolerance, without which
there cannot be an effective system of human rights protection.
At the end of the meeting, the Human Rights Defender
handed over souvenirs to the schoolchildren and expressed her willingness to
support their initiatives.
