On April 19, The Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan
received the delegation led by Mehdi Sobhani, Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia.
Welcoming the guests, Anahit Manasyan presented the
directions of the Defender's work, referring to the protection of the rights of
foreign citizens in Armenia, including Iranians.
The Defender stated that the issues of protecting the
rights of the above-mentioned persons are under her personal attention.
Anahit Manasyan presented issues related to the
protection of the rights of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh,
specifically referring to the fact-finding activities carried out by her
personally and by her staff. The state of protection of the rights of residents
of border settlements of the RA was also discussed. In this context, Anahit
Manasyan emphasized that no political circumstance can prevail over the need to
protect and guarantee human rights.
In his turn, Ambassador Mehdi Sobhani expressed his gratitute
for the reception and emphasized the role of the Human Rights Defender's Office
in the implementation of the mission of human rights protection.
