On
April 15, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan received the delegation led
by the Permanent Representative of Finland to the OSCE, Ambassador Mr. Vesa
Häkkinen.
Welcoming
the guests, Anahit Manasyan presented the directions of the Defender's
activity, emphasizing the protection of the rights of women, children, national
minorities, persons with disabilities, as well as the protection of the rights
in the armed forces and within the framework of criminal proceedings, the works
carried out in the framework of the fight against hate speech, atmosphere of
intolerance, discrimination and in a number of other areas. In this context,
the Defender emphasized that it is impossible to have a proper system of human
rights protection without public solidarity, and from the viewpoint of public
solidarity, the guarantee of legal equality is of exceptional importance.
Anahit
Manasyan made a special reference to the issues related to the protection of
the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, presented the
fact-finding activities carried out by herself and the staff of the Defender.
The documented information was summarized in the ad hoc report of the Human
Rights Defender, which was the first to be presented by the Defender to
international organizations and actors with a mandate to protect human rights.
The
Defender specifically emphasized the need to properly guarantee the rights of
forcibly displaced persons in the Republic of Armenia, talking about the steps
taken by the Office of the Defender in that direction.

Häkkinen, expressed his gratitude to the Defender for the warm reception and
effective discussion.
