On April 10, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan
received Judge Todd Eddins of the Supreme Court of the State of Hawaii of the
USA.
Welcoming the guests, Anahit Manasyan presented the
directions of the Defender's activities, highlighting the work carried out in
the framework of the protection of the rights of women, children, persons with
disabilities, hate speech, the atmosphere of intolerance, the fight against
discrimination and a number of other fields.
The Defender presented issues related to the protection
of the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, specifically
referring to the fact-finding activities carried out by her personally and by
the staff. In this context, Anahit Manasyan noted that she was actively
involved in these works from the very first day: she visited Goris, Kornidzor
and Vaik with her staff, by working even at nights.
The documented information was summarized in the ad hoc
report of the Human Rights Defender, which was presented by the Defender to the
international organizations and actors with a mandate to protect human rights,
with the confidential section proving its authenticity.
In his turn, Todd Eddins expressed his gratitude for the
reception, highlighted the role of the Defender's Office in the implementation
of the important mission of human rights protection.
