The Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan attended the
"Solar Bells" concert on March 21, on the occasion of World Down
Syndrome Day.
The event was held in the Zoravor surb Astvatsatsin
Church of the Ararat Pontifical Diocese. Children with Down syndrome who are
members of "Sun-Children" Children's Health and Development Center
NGO presented various musical performances with bells.
During the event, the Defender and the "suns"
asked each other questions. Anahit Manasyan got aquatinted with their
preferences and listened to different stories related to their everyday life.
"We must be able to love and convey the love in our
hearts to each other. Moreover, it is important to love each other, keeping in
mind the peculiarities of each of us. Those are the features that make each of
us perfect in our personality," stated the Defender.
Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance of everyone's
equal participation in public life and effective social inclusion. In this
context, she emphasized that the State should take active measures to guarantee
the unimpeded realization of the right of people with Down syndrome to live
independently and be included in the community.
Anahit Manasyan gave souvenirs to the
"Sun-children". The Defender assured that she will always be by their
side to the best of her ability.
For this year "Let's be together" was the motto
of "Sun-children".
It should be noted that "Sun-children" health
and development center NGO is included in the public council on the protection
of the rights of persons with disabilities adjunct to the Human Rights
Defender.
