On
January 30, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan conducted an unannounced
visit to "Gavar Children's home" SNPO of Gegharkunik region.
The
Defender was accompanied by the representatives of the Department of Ensuring
Conventional Mandates of the Human Rights Defender's Office and the
representatives of the department of Gegharkunik.
During
the visit, Anahit Manasyan toured the territory of the institution, got
acquainted with the students' daily life, educational and development programs,
and examined the conditions of the orphanage, including the kitchen, bedrooms,
and the medical center.
Private
interviews were held with the students and staff of the institution regarding
the state of ensuring their rights.
Naira
Khandanyan, the director of the SNPO, presented the priority problems and
issues related to work with students.
At
the end of the visit, the Defender Anahit Manasyan and representatives of the
Defender's Office presented the recorded problems to the management staff of
the orphanage and suggested possible options for their solution.
The
Defender noted that it is extremely important to carry out systematic work with
children, to develop the right methodology and to carry out continuous work to
improve the professional skills of the staff. Anahit Manasyan emphasized that
individualized, united, dedicated and professional work is key to the
development of each child and ensuring a safe environment.
The
results of the unannounced visit will be summarized and relevant letters will
be sent to the competent authorities.
