On
December 27, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender's Office
conducted an unannounced visit to "Nubarashen" and
"Vardashen" penitentiary institutions through a number of calls and
complaints addressed to the Human Rights Defender's hotline.
Private
interviews have been carried out with persons deprived of liberty.
The
ensuring of those persons' rights, relevant documents and detention conditions
have been studied in detail.
The
registered problems were discussed with the administration of the penitentiary
institution and the medical staff of the corresponding divisions of the
criminal executive institution «Hospital for the Convicted» (SNPO).
The
results of the unannounced visit will be summarized and appropriate letters
will be forwarded to the competent authorities regarding the issues recorded.
