The
representatives of the National Prevention Mechanism of the Office of the Human
Rights Defender conducted an unannounced visit to the "Artik"
penitentiary institution of the Ministry of Justice.
Private
interviews have been carried out with persons deprived of liberty.
A
detailed study of the ensuring of those persons' rights, as well as the
relevant documents and detention conditions has been conducted.
The
registered problems were discussed with the administration of the penitentiary
institution and the medical staff of the corresponding divisions of the
criminal executive institution «Hospital for the Convicted» (SNPO).
The
results of the unannounced visit will be summarized and appropriate letters
will be forwarded to the competent authorities regarding the recorded problems.
