On
December 19 Mikayel Khachatryan, Acting Head of the Research, Expert and
Educational Center of the Office of the Human Rights Defender, and Shant Abu
Cham, Chief Specialist of the Department of International Cooperation,
participated in the session of the management of the Project Board meeting of
the European Union-funded "Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection
in Armenia" project.
Within
the framework of the event, the progress over the past year and the areas and
priorities of cooperation for the upcoming 2024 were reviewed.
The
Defender's representatives referred to the program's cooperation with the UN,
UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, and other structures during the year. Mikayel
Khachatryan expressed his gratitude for the successful cooperation and support
provided to the Office of the Human Rights Defender in the framework of various
programs.
Representatives
of the Armenian office of the United Nations Development Programme, the
European Union delegation, and the Ministries of Internal Affairs and Justice
also participated in the meeting.
The
goal of the “Accountable Institutions and Human Rights Protection in
Armenia" project implemented by the UN structures, founded by the European
Union, is to support the reform agenda of state bodies to build efficient and
accountable institutions.
