On
December 18, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan and the UNICEF’s
Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Regina De Dominicis visited the
Child Protection Center of the Fund for Armenian Relief fund (FAR).
The
goal was to get acquainted with the services provided to children at the
center, including those forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh.
Christine
Weigand, the representative of UNICEF in Armenia, representatives of the
Defender's Office and UNICEF in Armenia also were present.
Parents
of forcibly displaced children also took part in a discussion with the guests
at the Child Protection Center and forwarded questions related to their rights.
Anahit
Manasyan stated that the Defender's Office is constantly working on the rights
of forcibly displaced people. In this context, the Defender emphasized that she
was personally involved in these activities since the very first day.
"The
protection of the rights of forcibly displaced people, including children, is
under my immediate attention. I have been involved in this work since the very
first day. Together with my staff we visited Goris, Kornidzor and Vayk, working
even at night. Even now, we continuously visit the temporary accommodations of
forcibly displaced people. As the Human Rights Defender, I assure you that an
individual approach is shown to the proper realization of everyone's
rights," stated Anahit Manasyan.
Accompanied
by the executive director of the center, Mira Antonyan, the Defender and the
UNICEF official also toured the territory of the institution and got acquainted
with the daily life of the children.
The
implementation process of the Barnhouse model, supported by UNICEF and funded
by the European Union, was also presented to the guests.
The
Human Rights Defender, UNICEF’s Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia
and the Head of the Child Protection Center agreed to further deepen
cooperation in the protection of children's rights.
