On December 8, the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan
welcomed the high school students of the "Gazprom Armenia"
educational complex.
Anahit Manasyan presented to the students the Defender’s
mission, the scope of powers, directions and priorities of work, referred to
the protection of children's personal data, as well as the features of the
fight against intolerance and discrimination.
"It is of utmost importance that schoolchildren are
interested in the field of human rights protection. Proper awareness of the
right helps to create a tolerant and non-discriminatory environment,"
stated Anahit Manasyan.
During the Q&A meeting, the students had the
opportunity to raise their concerns. Various issues related to the protection
of children's rights were discussed: forms of violence against children, the right
to education, the right to be heard and freedom of expression, etc.
All the ways to contact the Defender without the
intervention of adults were also presented, including through the 116 hotline
phone number.
At the end of the meeting, the Defender expressed her
gratitude for the substantive discussion.
