fundamental human rights and freedoms. In this context, the Defender informed
Levan Ioseliani that a public council for the protection and promotion of the
rights of persons belonging to national minorities adjunct to the Human Rights
Defender was created which aims to contribute to the effective protection and
promotion of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities as a result
of joint work with representatives of national minorities and civil society.
The
council includes representatives of non-governmental organizations engaged in
the protection of the rights of national minorities living in the Republic of
Armenia, including from the Georgian community. At the end of the meeting, the
parties reached an agreement to further strengthen and expand cooperation in
the field of human rights protection.
